We can thank printers for so much. Before the Internet was even an idea, the printer was responsible for enabling the widespread flow of knowledge we know today.
You probably know that over 500 years ago, Johannes Gutenberg made history with the famous printing press. It would go on to be used by Benjamin Franklin for his revolutionary Pennsylvania Gazette newspaper. It would be an agent of transformation in schools, passing down formerly oral teachings and making them accessible hundreds of years later. It would also propel the Scientific Revolution and enable new industries to thrive.
Since those humbler days, print technology has seen unimaginable transformation. We hardly break a sweat to make thousands of colour copies. However, as a result, we’ve become a bit reckless in the ways we produce. As populations rise and paper use reaches all-time highs, our businesses have a responsibility: using the means we have to create greater efficiencies and reduce our waste.
As always, CBM is striving to contribute to a better Earth by implementing smarter printing strategy. We’ve been supplying equipment and designing print infrastructure for businesses aiming to reduce their carbon footprint. We’ve been working with our vendors to deliver better technology that instantly digitizes documents and keeps your critical files safer and more space efficient.
Now that more of our files are digital than ever, businesses are seeing a newer challenge: online security. The buzz around cybersecurity these days is more than just talk. Thousands of Canadian businesses will be affected by a cyberattack this year. Adapting to this new environment can be difficult, especially since so many large, successful businesses still don’t have the resources or expertise to protect themselves properly.
We believe that a truly paperless office is not that far away. So, we’ve stepped up to the plate to lead our customers and partners to transformative digital solutions. CBM’s IT division was founded to relieve people’s worries and stress around technology. We’re one of a few companies in Canada that truly integrates print and IT under one company and direction. With efficiency meaning more than it ever has, we’ve allowed our customers to reduce their touchpoints with vendors and service providers—with all their print supply and tech support housed under one roof.
This year, we’re celebrating our 45th anniversary. We’re proud to have been serving our community with a team of people who love what they do. We’ve expanded our IT division and are gradually becoming thought leaders in technology. We’ve been a top performer and key player in Edmonton, being recognized by Business in Edmonton Magazine as leaders in managed print and IT service. Our customers tell us our response and proactive service is faster and more precise than that of our competitors. We’re adopting the latest scanning technologies and data recovery strategies.
As CBM continues to improve and grow, we promise to stay authentic, transparent, strategic, knowledgeable, and invested. In keeping with these values, we want to acknowledge and thank our dependable partners and everyone in the community who has attended our events, shared CBM’s social media posts with their colleagues, or supported the personal and professional endeavours of our team members.
We’re living in exciting times. To match technology’s rapid growth, we have reinvented ourselves several times in the last 45 years, leading the way for businesses to shed their typewriters and fax machines. We’re excited for what the next generation and iteration of CBM can be.
We can’t promise perfection, but we can guarantee that we’ll keep making information sharing simple, nurturing long-term relationships, taking your feedback seriously, and putting people first. I’m looking forward to 45 more outstanding years.
